I just want to tell you about the myth in our mind that how to communicate with interviewer.
When we are going for interview the first question arise in our mind that is how to communicate with interviewer? This question arises mostly in everyone’s mind. This is the big question.
“Yes” it is a big question but there is a myth about this which is mostly people think that interviewer is the person who is check our capabilities and he talk in English or any other global language but I am not good enough to communicate in these global language.
It’s purely depends on the job type in which you want a job and job location. Yes it is true that language is important for the communication but only for communicate with the others.
When we talk about the global language, most of the countries don’t follow global language for the communication in business, education etc.
An interviewer he is person who check the capabilities of an Interviewee. She/he has a bunch of question to ask from you according to the requirement of job description. And they also want from you that you communicate with him as a good communicator. Don’t show off in front of him. Just answer the question which he asks from you very neatly.
Let’s talk about interviewer,
He or She is also a human being so as Interviewee you don’t need to take pressure and don’t be hesitate to communicate with him you just need to calm down first then start with your introduction. You can communicate with him in your language also but first you have to ask interviewer. “Can I communicate with you in ___________ language if you comfortable“. Interviewer never disappoints you. Language is just a medium of communication nothing else don’t make it big thing.
Often job interview communication will start off with some small talk, asking questions about getting to the interview, the weather and so on.
You can prepare these while you wait for the interviewer.
Make sure you know how to pronounce all the names correctly. Ask the receptionist beforehand if you are unsure of how to pronounce any names.
It is advisable to address the interviewers formally until they suggest otherwise. Avoid abbreviating the interviewer’s name unless asked to. For example if his name is Rajender don’t start calling him Raju!
Important tips for job interviews include matching your communication style to that of the interviewer.
If the interviewer is very business-like, then you should respond in a similar way.
Avoid offering up jokes and funny stories. If the interviewer is more informal and chatty, adjust your communication style accordingly by responding in a more informal tone while still showing respect.
A common mistake candidates make is talking too much.
Listen to the question being asked, ensure you are clear as to what is requested and respond with the information.
Say something like:
“So you would like me to tell you about ….”
The interviewer can then correct you if you have misunderstood. There is no need to fill up silences with unnecessary rambling. Silences will naturally occur as the interviewer gathers their thoughts or formulates the next question, it is important to be comfortable with silences.
Interview anxiety can cause candidates to talk too much. Overcoming interview nerves will help you to communicate effectively during your job interview.
One of the most important communication tips for job interviews is to avoid interrupting the interviewer. Make sure they have finished speaking before you respond. You can do this by allowing a pause before you start speaking.
Taking a little time to think about a question rather than rushing to answer also helps you to organize your thoughts and prevents verbal fillers such as “umm” and “you know”.
These type of comments always come across as unprofessional. By taking a moment to think before you answer you appear calm, confident and polite.
